Telemetry is not the product

Most fleets already have GPS. What they lack is a system that turns pings into decisions: off-route, silent asset, permit that will expire before arrival, temperature that is about to ruin a load.

Fleet telematics AI is that layer. Spatial data, anomaly detection, and operator tools sitting on the same picture so dispatch is not reconstructing the afternoon from three vendor logins.

Why logistics teams ask for it now

Volumes are up, margins are not, and regulated cargo does not forgive a missing record. A delayed dashboard is a report. A live exception feed is operations.

The technical bar is unglamorous: spatial queries that hold up, ingestion that does not drop events, and a console a shift lead will actually use.

Models help rank exceptions and spot patterns a human will miss at 2 a.m. They should not silently reroute a hazardous load. Governance still belongs to the operator, with an audit trail of what was recommended and what was done.
